Featuring: A Contemporary Dream House
A symmetric take on the modern genre, this home is not only aesthetically alluring, but also pragmatic.
A 5room HDB BTO standard apartment. we’ll be looking at a home that has been very specifically refurbished to suit the taste of new homeowners with 2 childrens.
A look at the Design
Designed by Mr. Chinfei, this three bedroom apartment designed for Mr. and Mrs. Sho is a chic, sophisticated interpretation of a contemporary style interior with pragmatic material application, a soothing color palate, and a decidedly modern aesthetic. All of these aspects come together in a neatly amalgamated interpretation that is effortlessly impressive.
Outlined with an open floor concept in mind, this apartment utilizes a major chunk of its space in a studio fashion by combining all the major contenders of the public zone – living, dining and kitchen. A quick glance would reveal a distinct minimalistic touch throughout the interior, with a few bends and touches that embrace the contemporary stylism via fixtures.
A look at all aspects
Throughout the apartment, the contemporary aesthetic is accompanied by a smatter of strategically placed and meticulously designed products including feature lamps, small decorative baubles, custom veneers and simple but elegant furniture design. These tiny aspects come together to characterize a major part of the refurbishment, the undertaking of which is specifically catered for a certain mindset.
A look at the Kitchen
The ‘halfway’ wall of the foyer means more room for kitchen accessories and appliances in designated nooks and alcoves – that large fridge behind the counter will not be a hindrance again. The kitchen is enclosed, but expertly designed. The overall ambiance is definitely stylistic, mostly due to the use of carefully applied materials and uncanny lighting patterns. The dark hues of the backsplash – a nice use of tempered glass wall paneling – along with the walnut laminate (courtesy: EDL Laminates) form a creative juxtaposition with the gold of the hidden lighting at the bottom of the top counters.
Reworking the bedrooms
Allocated to the very private zones of the apartment, all three bedrooms of Mr. and Mrs. Sho’s residence were designed for economy as well as quality. Mr. Chinfei has used all trending closet and fixture appropriations to utilize this space to the best.
All of the closets are custom designed, and come with aluminium modular door system, which offers a better sliding mechanism. In addition to that, all the bedrooms are furnished with teak wood floors – solid timber, matt finish – which are sturdy, resilient and beautiful all at once.
The bed comes with an inbuilt storage unit – a lift-up – that can be used to store winter wear, bed sheets and more.
Overall, the design of this apartment is neat, relatable and organic enough to be a perfect contemporary blend. This project is definitely a bonus on the Faith Interior Design portfolio site, and is appreciated well by the clients it was designed for. The aesthetics and functionality are carefully amalgamated, and the end product is a modern visionary that is both pragmatic, as well as alluring, which is what interior design is all about – a job well done on the designers part.
" I am glad that my client is happy with the end result, Visiting them after they have moved in and the kids enjoying the amble space we created really touch me. That is the most fulfilling part of my job" say Mr chinfei ( interior designer / project manager)
